Today is Guy Fawkes Day in New Zealand. Fireworks are a traditional part of the Day’s celebration. If you are letting off fireworks today, please keep animals in mind – horses and dogs in particular don’t react well!!
A variety of pink stones called thulite can be found on Gemstone Beach. Many of them don’t tumble-polish well, coming out rough and non-shiny. This small thulite stone fared quite well.
There appear to be some small areas of white quartz in the stone.
